The Kurdish Culture Festival

The Kurdish Culture Festival took place on November 14, 2015, for the first time in San Francisco, it was a part of ASAWAR thesis project by the Kurdish student Maher Sinjary who received his MFA in graphic design from the Academy of Art University. 

We celebrated and honored the Kurdish heritage with delicious Kurdish food, music and stimulating conversations with new and old friends.

FESTIVAL SCHEDULE

12:00 Reception, with Kurdish music in the background

12:15 Short thesis presentation to bring audience attention to my topic

12:20 Introducing the audience to Kurdish culture by socializing from Kurdish guests with Americans and other nationalities

12:30 Opening of art exhibition to show the Kurdish costumes through a collection of paintings from the artist Khairy Adam

1:00 Lunch break, to experience the taste of Kurdish food

2:00 Interactive conversations and Q&A about cultures such as  the differences between the Kurdish and American cultures

2:30 Experiencing the Kurdish folk dance for 30 minutes at the end of our festival
